National Night Out (Aug. 6, 2002)

On Tuesday, August 6th, citizens, law enforcement agencies, community groups, businesses and local officials in over 9,700 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide joined forces to mark the 19th Annual "National Night Out". The Washington Township Fire Department once again participated with other local public safety and community groups in the event held at Rock Spring Park. This was the third year for this event in Washington Township. The program was created to increase awareness of crime and drug prevention efforts in communities.

This year the event included lots of free food and drink, a dunk tank, bungee runs, fire truck rides, extrication and rope demonstrations, safety information and much more. The evening was a great success as hundreds of residents flocked to the park to participate in the fun.

Fire truck rides were popular, as well as extrications. The Police photographer also took some pictures from the aerial.
