National Night Out (Aug. 7, 2001)

The Washington Township Fire Department participated with other public safety and community groups in the National Night Out event held at Rock Spring Park. This was the second year for this event in Washington Township.

The program was created two decades ago to increase awareness of crime and drug prevention efforts in communities. According to the U.S. Justice Department, 9,500 communities in the United States and elsewhere participated in the program last year.

The year the event included lots of free food and drink, a dunk tank, bungee runs, fire truck rides, extrication and rope demonstrations, safety information and much more. The evening was a great success as residents flocked to the park to participate in the fun.
