The Schooleys Mountain Fire Protection Association announces the final alarm for Past Chief Jeffrey Lloyd. We mourn the loss of a member who contributed selflessly for over 40 years. Jeff served as Company Chief in 1986 through 1988 and Department Chief in 1989. He has also been the long standing corresponding secretary, assistant treasurer, and fund drive coordinator. His passing will leave big boots to fill. The Washington Township Fire Department pays tribute and wishes to express it's thanks for a job well done.

A remembrance was held at the station on July 23, 2012.

His grandson and granddaughter participated by sounding the bell and placing his gear on the apparatus for his final call. This is also that date that his grandson Andrew completed his firefighting training at the academy. (Kevin Strawn photos)


Jeffrey D. Lloyd, age 70, of Washington Township, Long Valley, NJ died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at his residence. Jeffrey was born March 2, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late William Jefferson and Mary Catherine (Hartigan) Lloyd. He was predeceased by his wife, Marcia (Sutcliffe) Lloyd in 2004.

He was employed by Honeywell, Morristown, NJ as a Credit Manager. He was a member of the Schooleys Mountain Fire Department; he was very active in the fire department and enjoyed time with his family.

He is survived by a Son, Jeffrey J. Lloyd; a Daughter & husband, Susan & Brian Smith, Newton, NJ; Brother & Wife, William & Janine Lloyd; 4 Grandchildren, Meghan, Andrew, Dillon And Zachary.

Visitation was held on Monday, July 23, 2012, 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
